Nicholas Jenkins

Associate Attorney

Nicholas Jenkins is an associate attorney at AEGIS Law, where he focuses on taxation, business transactions, real estate, and estate planning. His work spans buying and selling businesses, structuring private investment loans, succession planning for closely held companies, and optimizing transactions through charitable and tax-efficient strategies.

Nicholas first joined AEGIS Law as a law clerk while earning his J.D. and LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, where he graduated Order of the Coif and received the Outstanding Taxation Graduate Award for the Tax LLM program. He also earned the highest grades in Objective Legal Writing and Estate & Gift Tax. Before law school, he studied Applied Mathematics with a concentration in Operations Research at the University of California, Berkeley—a foundation that continues to shape his disciplined, analytical approach to law.

Nicholas was drawn to the legal profession by a fascination with the rules and systems that sustain society, and he views law as an essential bridge between structure and enterprise. His interest in business and problem-solving led him to tax law, where he discovered a discipline that connects every transaction to its economic and regulatory consequences. “The fact that most transactions have a tax consequence informs my approach to the transaction itself,” he says.

Before joining AEGIS full-time, Nicholas served as a judicial intern for Judge Timothy M. Tymkovich at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and Judge Daniel D. Domenico at the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado. These formative experiences taught him how every transaction sits against the backdrop of potential litigation and honed his ability to write and reason with precision. “Working in federal chambers was a high-pressure environment that refined my writing and advocacy skills—and deepened my understanding of where risk and liability arise in business.”

At AEGIS, Nicholas is most engaged by matters without a single “right” answer—where good lawyering lies in judgment, diligence, and strategy. His work often involves aligning family financial goals, structuring transactions for tax efficiency, and crafting plans that balance numbers with nuance. “Solving for a numerical value is one thing,” he notes. “But factoring in clients’ relationships and life goals requires a more mature and patient approach.”

A Colorado native, Nicholas grew up in the Front Range and remains an avid outdoorsman. A competitive mountain biker, he has raced internationally and completed the Leadville Trail 100 Mountain Bike Race five times. When not cycling, he enjoys skiing, hiking, pickleball, exploring new coffee shops, and participating in young adult community groups.
