Michael Cherba

Senior Attorney

Michael Cherba is a seasoned trial attorney and trusted advisor with over two decades of experience navigating complex legal disputes in state, federal, and administrative courts. His practice encompasses administrative law, civil and commercial litigation, consumer protection, fiduciary litigation, and professional licensing, as well as guardianships and conservatorships arising out of contested probate and fiduciary matters.
Known for his calm, strategic approach, Michael represents a diverse client base—from large corporations and professionals facing regulatory scrutiny to families and fiduciaries navigating highly personal disputes. His ability to balance technical precision with human understanding has earned him a reputation for integrity, preparation, and practical problem-solving.

Before joining AEGIS Law, Michael served as an Assistant Missouri Attorney General, where he represented the state in administrative and civil matters, gaining first-hand insight into how government agencies operate and make decisions. Earlier in his career, he worked at a respected St. Louis firm where he handled commercial, insurance, and employment disputes. Michael also brings experience from the White House and the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, where he focused on policy and executive-level decision-making.

Over his career, Michael has tried numerous cases to verdict and argued appeals before Missouri’s appellate courts, with three published decisions: Ice v. HarrisPhillips v. Schafer, and Keeney v. Fitch. He is licensed in Missouri and Illinois and admitted to practice before the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals and multiple U.S. District Courts.

Beyond his law practice, Michael is deeply engaged in service and leadership. He represents St. Louis County on the Missouri Bar Board of Governors, serves on the Board of Directors for Legal Services of Eastern Missouri, and participates in the Volunteer Lawyers Program. He is also a Board Member of Willows Way, Inc., which supports adults with developmental disabilities.

Michael earned his J.D. from Washington University School of Law and his B.A. from Michigan State University.

His colleagues and clients alike know him as an attorney who combines intellectual rigor with genuine empathy—a lawyer who listens first, fights hard, and never loses sight of the people behind the problems.
