Professional Methodology

Brett Caban serves as a primary architect for dispute resolution at AEGIS Law, specializing in the mechanical execution of general civil and complex commercial litigation. His methodology is defined by a rigorous, clinical attention to detail that spans the entire litigation lifecycle—from initial case evaluation and inception through to final disposition or trial.

Before joining the AEGIS team, Brett refined his litigation intelligence at prominent regional firms, including Klar, Izsak & Stenger, LLC, and Evans & Dixon, LLC. In these roles, he was responsible for managing high-stakes commercial cases, developing a sophisticated proficiency in discovery, complex motion practice, and alternative dispute resolution (ADR). This breadth of experience allows Brett to remove structural legal friction for his clients, providing them with the tactical certainty required to navigate the unpredictability of the courtroom.

Academic and Legal Excellence

Brett’s legal practice is anchored by an exceptionally strong academic foundation. He earned his Bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from Saint Louis University with a major in Finance—a background that provides him with unique insight into the financial drivers behind commercial disputes. He continued his education at the Saint Louis University School of Law, where he was awarded a Faculty Fellowship and an Academic Excellence Award.

His technical writing and oral advocacy skills were further highlighted during law school, where he received Best Brief Honors in the Moot Court Competition and earned a Certificate in Health Law. These accolades reflect a high-fidelity approach to legal research and communication that he now applies to the complex drafting and strategy required for AEGIS Law’s corporate and litigation clients.

Credentials & Admissions

Bar Admissions:
Brett is admitted to practice before all Missouri and Illinois state courts. His federal credentials include admission to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri and the Western District of Missouri, positioning him to provide comprehensive stewardship for clients facing multi-jurisdictional challenges.

Outside of his clinical practice, Brett remains an active member of the St. Louis community. He is an avid traveler and outdoor enthusiast, frequently spending his free time exploring new landscapes with his wife. This balance of professional rigor and personal engagement reflects the AEGIS commitment to high-performance leadership both inside and outside the office.
