Executive Profile [−]
The Entrepreneurial Perspective

Robert Gold brings nearly 30 years of experience in mergers and acquisitions, corporate law, and tax structuring to AEGIS Law. What distinguishes Robert in the marketplace is his dual background as an attorney and an entrepreneur. Having established and operated his own boutique advisory firm and served as an operating partner in technology ventures, he understands the pressures and aspirations of his clients because he has been in their shoes.

Strategic Business Lifecycle Advice

Robert’s practice sits at the intersection of M&A, tax structuring, governance, private capital, and ownership transitions, informed by his prior experience as both an investment banker and an entrepreneur. He provides strategic advice to entrepreneurs and owners of closely held businesses at all stages of their business’s life cycle—from capital formation and growth to the complexities of an exit or transition.

During his tenure as a Managing Director at middle-market investment banks, including The Chicago Corporation and FOCUS LLC, Robert oversaw transaction execution for companies with sales ranging from $25 million to $500 million. This deep financial intelligence allows him to advise on tax-efficient arrangements using partnerships and flow-through entities with a level of practical business insight that is unique in the legal field.

Robert began his legal career with a focus on tax law and corporate structuring at some of Chicago’s most prominent firms. He practiced with Shefsky & Froelich (now Taft Stettinius), Schiff, Hardin & Waite (still Schiff), and served as a partner in the tax group at Sachnoff & Weaver (now Reed Smith).
