It is with profound sorrow that we share the news of the passing of our esteemed colleague and dear friend, Anne Zimmermann, who left us on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at the tender age of 47. Anne was a beacon of strength, kindness, and unwavering advocacy in our legal community, and her departure has left an indescribable void in our hearts and in our firm.
Anne was the beloved daughter of Walter and Joan Zimmermann, a loving sister to Joseph (and his wife Karen) Zimmermann, a doting aunt to Andrew Zimmermann, and a caring friend and relative to many. She leaves behind her cherished dog, Hazel, who was a constant companion in her life’s adventures.
Anne was more than just an attorney; she was an advocate in the truest sense, fiercely representing her clients with a blend of grace, tenacity, and compassion that was unmatched. Her legal prowess, combined with her genuine care for those she represented, made her an incredible force in the courtroom and a trusted confidante outside of it.
Beyond the legal realm, Anne was passionate about life and lived it to the fullest. She was an avid scuba diver, exploring the depths of the ocean with the same vigor and enthusiasm she brought to her legal practice. Music was another of her great loves, providing a soundtrack to her life’s most memorable moments.
Anne was a regular in the annual Downtown St. Louis St. Patrick’s Day Parade, showcasing her love for celebration and community. She was also a proud member of the Missouri Bar Association, where she connected with and contributed to the broader legal community.
Some of her coworkers remember her with deep admiration and fondness:
  • “Anne was a talented courtroom lawyer balancing strength and sensitivity with her insights into the core of the issues.  Outside the courtroom she was a true and loyal friend who was always willing to lend an ear, offer encouragement and interject her infectious wit and laugh that drew so many others in to her orbit.” – Sheldon Korlin
  • “Anne was not just a coworker; she was a mentor and a friend. Her passion for justice and her unwavering support for her clients were truly inspirational.” – Kellie Carr
  • “Remembering My Friend Anne, Oh how you are missed and loved by so many.  I still talk to you daily on the way to and from work and let you know how things are going.  You loved Mexican food, hated cilantro, I miss our weekly lunches/chats. You were/are a fiercely loyal friend, lover of animals, always wanting to chase and pet the sharks.  When diving you would tell me stories of searching for treasures in the depths of the bodies of water, I hope you’re still searching. Until we meet again, I will have a drink in your honor, think of you every time I see a body of water and go on more adventures for you.“ – Carrie Moore
  • “She had a gift for finding the light in even the darkest situations, helping her clients and colleagues alike find a path forward. Her legacy of kindness and dedication will not be forgotten.” – Jeana Bondi
  • “Anne was such a wonderful person. She was beautiful and smart, a very multifaceted person that never met a stranger. She worked hard and played even harder (her shark stories were crazy.😳). But, what I remember most was her beautiful smile. And her great sense of humor. She will be truly missed by so many. RIP sweet friend.” – Martha
  • “Although we did not work together in service of any shared clients, Anne was always able to show even in our casual conversations that she was a cheerful and unhurried listener. I never saw her without a smile on her face.”  – Bill Higley
  • “I will remember Anne as a trusted partner, respected attorney, and caring friend. She brought a spirit of collaboration and selflessness that made our firm better. Anne never sought praise or spotlight, but uplifted those around her. She faced adversity with grace and perseverance. Though deeply missed, Anne’s contributions and spirit will stay with us and the clients she served.” – Scott Levine

As we mourn the loss of Anne, we also celebrate her remarkable life, her outstanding contributions to the field of law, and the joyful spirit she shared so generously with us all. Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and all who were touched by her warmth, her passion, and her unparalleled dedication to advocacy.

Anne’s legacy will live on in the countless lives she touched, in the justice she fought for, and in the beautiful memories she leaves behind. May we all strive to live as passionately and advocate as fervently as she did. Anne, you will be deeply missed, but your spirit, your love for life, and your unwavering commitment to justice will forever remain in our hearts.

Rest in peace, dear Ann. Your journey here was a beautiful melody, a thrilling adventure, and an inspirational legacy that will not be forgotten.
