Rod Atherton is an experienced tax, estate planning, business, and real estate lawyer and principal attorney of Ergo Law, LLC. Throughout his long legal career, Rod has provided estate and tax planning to many clients, and his firm in Arvada, CO, serves a diverse clientele. He’s worked as both a solo practitioner and with large law firms. With a background as a Shareholder and Partner in the Tax and Trusts and Estates Departments of three firms before starting Ergo Law, Rod has overseen complex cases, including estate matters and charitable planning.

Rod became a lawyer to serve people, and he takes his service seriously. He feels honored when his clients trust him with matters related to their families, businesses, and assets. Rod always looks out for his clients’ best interests, and carefully tailors his advice to their needs. He appreciates the relationships he builds with his clients, and many of his clients have become personal friends.

Developing innovative solutions to challenging cases is what Rod enjoys most about his job. With a wide range of clients spanning business, tax, and estate matters, he often deals with families with complex holdings. He aims to help these clients align their affairs and lessen their tax burden.

Rod received his J.D. from Washburn University School of Law, where he served on the Law Review. He also holds an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Denver a B.S. in Accounting from Oklahoma State University.

Outside of his legal practice, Rod is heavily involved in his community. He volunteers with Fathers in the Field, a father-mentor organization, and was formerly on the Board of Governors of the Metro Denver Economic Development Committee. He also served as a 10-year Board Member for the Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum. Rod has had several articles published and speaking engagements related to estate planning and charitable giving as well.
