AEGIS Law is thrilled to announce the addition of John Gunn and Michael P. Gunn to our firm, marking a significant expansion of our estate planning, probate, and trust litigation capabilities. This father-son duo brings an extraordinary combination of leadership experience and specialized legal expertise that will enhance our ability to serve clients across the region.
John Gunn, past president of The Missouri Bar (2020-2021), joins AEGIS Law with over two decades of experience in probate and trust litigation, estate planning, and fiduciary matters. His practice is distinguished by a unique blend of technical precision and personal approach, particularly in helping clients navigate complex personal and financial transitions. John’s experience includes successful arguments before the Missouri Court of Appeals and support of litigation before the Missouri Supreme Court, demonstrating his ability to handle sophisticated legal challenges at all levels of the judicial system.
Michael Gunn brings an impressive five-decade legacy of legal excellence to AEGIS Law. A graduate of St. Louis University School of Law, Michael has earned the highest possible Martindale-Hubbell AV® Preeminent™ rating and served as President of The Missouri Bar (1999-2000). His extensive experience in complex estate planning, probate administration, and litigation is complemented by his service as Circuit Judge in the Municipal Division of Manchester (1997-2019), providing invaluable judicial insight that benefits our clients.
Both John and Michael have demonstrated exceptional leadership in the legal community. John currently leads Missouri’s delegation to the American Bar Association’s House of Delegates, while Michael’s 18-year tenure in the same body, including his role as Missouri’s State Delegate, showcases their national influence in shaping legal policy. Their combined experience includes leadership roles with The Bar Plan Mutual Insurance Company and numerous bar associations, reflecting their commitment to advancing the legal profession.
“The addition of John and Michael Gunn represents a significant milestone for AEGIS Law,” said Scott Levine, Managing Member. “Their deep expertise in estate planning and probate litigation, combined with their demonstrated leadership in the legal community, aligns perfectly with our firm’s commitment to providing sophisticated, client-focused legal services. Their track record of success and dedication to professional excellence makes them invaluable additions to our team.”
The Gunns’ commitment to community service is equally impressive. Michael’s twelve-year chairmanship of Peter & Paul Community Services and creation of The Missouri Bar Leadership Academy demonstrate their dedication to improving both the legal profession and the broader community. John’s initiatives in lawyer well-being and civics education during his bar presidency reflect their shared commitment to strengthening the legal community.
Their arrival enhances AEGIS Law’s capabilities in several key practice areas:
– Complex estate planning and administration

Michael’s upcoming induction into the St. Louis University School of Law “Order of the Fleur de Lis Hall of Fame” in 2025 further testifies to his lasting impact on the legal profession.
